From April 7-13, the Red Cross in Greater New York provided emergency assistance to 112 adults and 34 children following 46 local disasters. Here are some highlights from last week and a preview of upcoming activities. (See below)

Last Week in Review

• Newsday reported on the Red Cross assisting a resident after a fire on Evergreen Drive in Westbury, NY.
• Last Saturday, Norwood News reported on the Red Cross assisting 3 families after a fire on Grand Concourse in the Bronx.
• LongIsland.com reported on Legislator Koslow encouraging families to take part in American Red Cross "Sound the Alarm" event on April 23.
• New Rochelle Mayor Yadira Ramos-Herbert recorded this PSA to spread the word about the upcoming “Sound the Alarm” event on May 3.
• Last week, #LIRedCross volunteer Celia Vollmer participated in a Community Action Poverty Simulation at the Sisters of St. Joseph.
• Check out this awesome video highlights from the West Point blood drive earlier this month that collected 837 units of lifesaving blood. More stories to come!
• We held our first volunteer recognition event of the year in Metro New York North to celebrate our dedicated and selfless volunteers.
