From Feb 17-23, the Red Cross in Greater New York provided emergency assistance to 187 adults and 66 children following 50 local disasters. Here are some highlights from last week and a preview of upcoming activities. (See below)
Last Week in Review
- Over the weekend, Disaster Cycle Services team members from every group gathered at the Rockland County Fire Academy for a functional exercise.

- Last Thursday, the Norwood News reported on the Red Cross assisting 3 families after a 3-alarm fire on University Avenue in the University Heights section of the Bronx.
- We shared this video highlighting the Red Cross assisting 19 adults and 8 children after a fire on Rochambeau Ave in the Norwood section of the Bronx.
- Meet Team Red Cross runners Michael Gray and Kelly Van Hoesen who are running in the NYC Marathon to benefit the Red Cross.
- A heartwarming moment recently when our team visited Somers High School to assemble "Steph's Comfort Kits" in memory of Stephanie Crispinelli, a young radiant soul who tragically lost her life in the 2010 Haiti Earthquake.
- Last Tuesday, News 12 reported on the Red Cross assisting 10 adults and 6 children after a fatal fire on 67th street in Brooklyn.
- Last Monday, News 12 reported on the Red Cross assisting 3 families after a fire on Kingston Avenue in Brooklyn.
