In Case You Missed It

Congrats to David Jones and the rest of Team Red Cross for running the
TCS NYC Marathon to benefit the lifesaving mission of the Red Cross.

From Oct 28-Nov 3, the Red Cross in Greater New York provided emergency assistance to 191 adults and 44 children following 45 local disasters. Here are some highlights from last week and a preview of upcoming activities. (See below)

Last Week in Review

• Over the weekend, as we “fall back” for daylight savings time, we reminded everyone to test their smoke alarms and get a jump on seasonal safety tips.
• Congrats to Team Red Cross for running the TCS NYC Marathon to benefit the lifesaving mission of the Red Cross!
• Last Friday, CBS2, PIX11, FOX5 and amNY, reported on the Red Cross opening a reception center and assisting 34 families after a 6-alarm fire in Harlem. Mayor Eric Adams and Congressman Adriano Espaillat encouraged impacted residents to reach out to the Red Cross.
• We’re proud to partner with NYC Administration for Children's Services every year to help trick-or-treaters enjoy Halloween safely. 🎃
• 🎶We’re looking for, looking for, looking for volunteers in healthcare, nurses, shelter workers, kind eyes.🎶
• Our new regional CEO Doreen Howe met with Bronx Borough President Vanessa Gibson as part of her regional tour to discuss many pressing issues, challenges and opportunities as well as selfless the contributions of our most valuable assets, our incredible volunteers.
• #LongIsland chapter CEO Jose Dominguez recently spoke with Newsday TV regarding home fires. He reminded everyone to test their smoke alarm monthly to help keep their family safe.
• National Red Cross featured the story of our own local Sickel Cell Warrior, Ashely Flowers, to help raise awareness on the importance of donating blood to uplift those with Sickel cell disease.
