- Mitchell, Ned and Peter have deployed to Texas from our region to support the ongoing response to storms and flooding that have impacted many communities across the South.
- Over the weekend, Rick and the Service to the Armed Forces Team with Turner Construction held a BBQ and spruced up the Veteran’s Courtyard at the James J. Peters VA Medical Center.
- Last Friday, NY1, CBS NY, 1010 WINS, Noorwood News and ABC7NY reported on the Red Cross assisting 5 displaced residents after a fire on White Plains Road in the Bronx.
- Chenxi Shi makes an impact in his community by helping to #EndHomeFires as part of the Sound the Alarm initiative. #AAPIHeritageMonth
- Last Wednesday, Mo and Danielle were at the Queens Botanical Garden Volunteer Fair, providing information about volunteering in your community!
- Congratulations to our Metro NY North Board Members and Red & White Ball committee members who completed first aid & CPR training!
- Nassau County Legislator Patrick Mullaney recorded this Sound the Alarm PSA to raise awareness about fire safety.
- Our own youth volunteer Evelyn had her journey spotlighted on the American Red Cross Youth IG account!
- The American Red Cross of Greater New York is looking for 2 NYC Civic Corps members to commit to 10 months of service from September 2024 to June 2025 with the Volunteer Services Department. Frank shared his experience as an AmeriCorps member with GNY Red Cross. Go to www.nycservice.org/nyc_civic_corps for application and benefits information.
- May 25: Volunteers will gather at Calverton National Cemetery to place flags at each grave to recognize and honor our military service men and women. (Red Cross Volunteers can sign up on Volunteer Connection)
- May 27: Volunteers will be marching in the Greenwich Sound Beach Memorial Day Parade organized by the Sound Beach Vol. Fire Dept. Email vanessa.broskie@redcross.org if you’d like to participate.
