Last Week in Review
- At the Red Cross Heroes Gala last Wednesday, we honored Brandon Tsay and Juan Dilone for their heroism, as well as Mastercard and the New York Yankees Foundation for their humanitarianism.
- Many New York buildings and landmarks went red to celebrate #RedCrossMonth.
- Over the weekend, our Home Fire Campaign was out in the Bronx sharing fire safety information and installing 58 free smoke alarms in 28 homes, educating 85 people about how to be prepared in case of home fires.
- Last Saturday, the Norwood News reported that the Red Cross assisted two families after a fire on Tryon Avenue in the Norwood section of the Bronx.
- We featured members of Team Red Cross who will be running the NYC Half Marathon in support of our mission: Giacomo Colarullo, Camila Paquet, Vibha Sreenivasa, Mike Collins, and Anthony Ammerman.
- Last Thursday, #MetroNYNRedCross was recognized by Spring Valley Mayor Alan Simon for opening two separate emergency shelters to support residents displaced after two fires in Rockland County.
- Did you see our Red Cross team at Family Connect Night in West Islip? We were excited to work with the West Islip Fire Department and the West Islip School District to focus on sharing important information around Fire Safety, Emergency Preparedness and Water Safety in Suffolk County.
- On Feb. 8, we held the latest installment of the “We Were There” panel discussion series on “International Deployments”, featuring American Red Cross team members who serve as international delegates.

- Mar 11: March is Red Cross Month! Join us for a Virtual Volunteer Information Session to learn about our many volunteer opportunities and how you can support our life saving mission in your community.
- Mar 23: Join us for a National Sound the Alarm event in Peekskill, NY to help educate people about fire safety and install free smoke alarms. No prior experience necessary, training provided. Register here.
- Apr 4-7: Save the date for our Disaster Ready Summit, which will be held at our GNY HQ in Manhattan and will feature courses such as Civilian Critical Casualty Care, Naloxone, We Were There, and Active Shooter Training. Contact GNY.DWE@redcross.org with questions.
