Red Cross Volunteers helping Texas residents during dangerous winter storm.
Over the last seven days, the Greater New York Red Cross provided emergency assistance to 91 adults and 22 children following 45 local disasters. Here are some highlights from last week and a preview of upcoming activities. (See below)

- Last week, in response to the dangerous winter weather that hit multiple states, including Texas, hundreds of Red Cross disaster workers have worked alongside community partners to open and support shelters, serve food and distribute water and supplies.
- On Thursday, News 12 The Bronx featured our own Bronx Disaster Action Team volunteer Hector Pereira.
- After a gas explosion in the Bronx on Thursday, reported by the NYT, we provided assistance and temporary housing to two households
- Last Tuesday, we shared a video honoring the remarkable life of African American leader, Mary McLeod Bethune who blazed trails for future generations of Black Red Crossers.
- Last Monday, as reported by the Queens Chronicle, we helped a displaced family of 5 after a five-alarm fire in Queens.
- Last week, we also shared this Instagram post about Jason Silva who turned to the Red Cross after losing his Bay Shore home to a fire.
