Over the last 7 days, the Greater New York Red Cross provided emergency assistance to 84 adults and 32 children following 44 local disasters. Here are some highlights from last week and a preview of upcoming activities (see below). 

Last Week in Review

• On Saturday, Red Cross held the Red and White Ball at the NetJets hangar at Westchester County Airport. Thanks to all the volunteers who spent months planning, and then flawlessly executing, a blockbuster night.
• Long Island Coalition for the Homeless received personal hygiene kits from the Red Cross on Long Island which will be distributed through their various programs and outreach to Long Islanders in need. 
• On Thursday, Denise Bloise, Olga Wallace and Alex Poku from the American Red Cross in Greater New York provided valuable preparedness information for local residents and the hospital staff at Richmond University Medical Center to prepare people for this hurricane season beginning June 1st. • Earlier that day, Red Cross on Long Island provided meals to the memorial of United States Marine Corps Cpl. Robert Hendricks. Thank you for your service, and rest in peace.

• April 30, May 3, 6: Red Cross blood drives will take place from 2 to 7 p.m. at the Greater NY Red Cross building located at 520 West 49th Street, Manhattan. Schedule an appointment to donate today!
• May 1 and 4: Every day seven people die in home fires and the Red Cross wants to do everything we can to prevent these needless tragedies. Red Cross in Greater New York will be hosting Sound the Alarm events at locations in Manhattan and on Long Island from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Please sign up to volunteer.
