Last Week in Review
- Over the weekend, #GetAlarmedNYC and the Home Fire Preparedness Campaign were out in full force.
- Over 100 volunteers made up of Red Crossers, West Point cadets, Kings Point Merchant Marine midshipmen and students from the Red Cross Hunter College Club spread out across Brooklyn to help make the community safer by installing free smoke alarms.
- Volunteers out on Long Island were also making a difference for their neighbors by installing free smoke alarms in area homes.
- On Friday, IVY Magazine published an interview with our CEO Josh Lockwood on how to get engaged in social impact.
- Last Wednesday was a big training day for the Greater New York Region. Volunteers out in Staten Island were focused on ERV (or Emergency Response Vehicle) driver training while Metro New York North volunteers traveled to Hawthorne for training in Red Cross Disaster Logistics.
- For our latest #MyRedCrossLife Instagram post, Yonkers native Tracy Richardson shared how volunteering with the Red Cross opened his eyes to community service.
- For MLK Day, we reflected on Martin Luther King Jr.’s profound words about service.
- Also on MLK Day: we were working with the FDNY to sign up residents of Sunset Park, Brooklyn for free smoke alarm installations.
- Early Monday morning, CBS New York reported on Red Cross assistance following an apartment fire in the Bronx.
